A sleek looking glazing bar which is perfect for a glazing system that needs to sit ‘in-line’ with the roof.  This system is available with a selection of internal and external capping options, allowing for the creation of several possible glazing configurations from one suite.  This range is particularly popular for double and triple glazed rooflights, providing superior insulation and energy efficiency.  It is ideal for both commercial and domestic applications, offering flexibility and high performance across various project types.

Additionally, this versatile glazing bar is suitable for single glazed canopies, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of design needs.  Its adaptability ensures it can be seamlessly integrated into most project designs, whether for new constructions or refurbishments.  The affordability of this system does not compromise its quality, making it an attractive option for budget conscious projects without sacrificing aesthetic appeal or durability.  With its combination of sleek design, versatility, and cost-effectiveness, this glazing bar is a standout solution for numerous architectural applications.

Advantages

  • Slender section
  • Concealed capping fixings
  • ‘L’ Reg compliant
  • Thermally broken
  • Suitable for accepting opening vents
  • Suitable for skylights
  • Suitable for canopies/walkways
  • Single, double or triple glazed options

Considerations

  • Internal stalks of the Skyline range are removed at the top and bottom positions of the glazing with a small gap to allow for tolerance for discrepancies within the supporting structure.  If the supporting rails are not constructed accurately then uneven visible cut-out lengths of the stalks become noticeable. This may require additional builders work to mask the out of line supports.

Our Skyline range of glazing bars offer an economical roof glazing solution incorporating slim sightlines.  The glazing bar’s strength is provided by an internal stalk (or fin) which is cut away at the top and bottom main fixing positions.
An internal snap-on ornate capping system (PC4) is also available if desired to fully conceal the internal stalk giving the appearance of a feature timber rafter.

The glazing bar is weathered by a screw on pressure cap with a choice of plain (PC2) or ornate (PC3) cosmetic outer snap-on cappings to conceal all fixing screws.

This system is able to accommodate double and triple glazed applications where compliance with Building Regulations Document L are a requirement but is also popular for single glazed applications such as feature canopies and unheated spaces.

Available in three sizes depending on the design span with fin depths of 50mm, 70mm and 100mm.  This glazing system is capable of spanning up to 4 metres unsupported with double glazed infills weighing 30kg/m².

The glazing bar spans shown above are based on using 6mm thick glass for the double glazed, single glazed and canopy types and the bars being spaced at 600mm centres. We will select the appropriate glazing bar for each contract.  Spans are dependent upon the site location and exposure rating, site altitude, distance from the sea, height of glazing from ground level, shape of the roof, pitch of glazing, glazing bar centres, glass weight, wind speeds, snow load, dead load and maintenance loads.

*The above spans for each glazing bar have two values.  The lower span values are calculated using the most extreme environmental loadings possible in the UK whereas the higher span values are based on the least extreme. Due to the wide range of these values it is therefore essential that we are supplied with the site postal code to enable us to calculate the correct glazing bar type for every project. There are a large number of variables which are used to determine the maximum span of the glazing bars so please do not attempt to buy any glazing bar materials from us without first allowing us to carry out the necessary calculations for your project
