CE Compliance
On 1st July 2013 the Construction Product Directive (CPD) was superseded by the Construction Product Regulations (CPR).
The new regulation requires construction products to be marked with a CE mark to indicate conformity to product standards within the member status of the EU.
There are currently no relevant HENs (Harmonised European Standards) that apply to patent glazing systems and until such standards are produced, CE Marking for Patent Glazing systems is not possible. Patent glazing is also exempt from the requirements of the CPR because every project we undertake is bespoke with the materials being custom made to suit each individual contract. (See Article 5 section ‘A’ of the regulations for further clarification).
All component parts of the completed installation that fall under the Construction Products Regulations will be CE marked and covered by their relevant Technical Data Sheet.
All the relevant technical data will be included in our O&M Manual which is supplied once a contract has been completed.
Until such a time that patent glazing systems have a Harmonised European Standard published we are not legally allowed to CE mark our systems. We expect such a harmonised standard to be published in due course but as yet there is no timescale being put forward. We will of course comply with CE Marking for Patent Glazing as soon as we are given the opportunity to do so by the regulations.
