Design Capabilities

With over a century of experience in designing patent glazing systems, we pride ourselves on offering some of the most superior commercial glazing services in the market. Our commitment to continuous improvement and innovation ensures that our glazing sections evolve with the times, guaranteeing longevity, watertight integrity, and robustness while adhering to all current regulations and industry best practices.

Throughout our history, our Technical Directors have been key contributors to the development of the British Standard for Patent Glazing, BS5516. This dedication to setting industry standards highlights our deep knowledge and expertise in every aspect of patent glazing.

Whether it’s a small-scale project or a large-scale endeavour, our team possesses the requisite skills and know-how to tackle any patent glazing project across the UK with confidence and precision.

Manufacturing Capabilities

Since 1918, we’ve been manufacturing patent glazing systems at our factory located in Forge Lane, Dewsbury. Initially moving to purpose-built premises, our facility has seen several expansions over the years. Today, we boast 2,600m2 of manufacturing space housing state-of-the-art machinery alongside our original Victorian machinery. This blend of modern technology and heritage equipment allows us to craft our unique Heritage lead-covered steel glazing bars with precision and authenticity, ensuring the highest quality standards in every product we deliver.

Our installation teams, comprising long-serving members of our organisation, are fully qualified to handle even the most demanding and complex projects. In recent times alone, we’ve successfully completed over 50,000m² of patent glazing installations at railway stations.

Our installers and contracts team hold a comprehensive range of qualifications, including NEBOSH, IOSH, SMSTS, SSSTS, PTS, PAL-IPAF, First Aid, PASMA, Manual Handling, Working at Height, Asbestos Awareness, Face Fit, and CSCS. This ensures that every project is executed with the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and expertise

Our Patent Glazing Systems

4Edge Pro: Redefining 4-Edge Glazing Systems

Our innovative 4Edge Pro glazing system represents a leap forward in modern glazing technology. Combining the weatherability of a dry sealed patent glazing system with the thermal and strength characteristics of a 4-edge curtain walling type system, 4Edge Pro offers unparalleled performance and versatility. Unlike traditional 4-edge glazing systems that rely on wet silicone seals, our 4Edge Pro system is fully drained and does not require such seals. This is made possible by our ground breaking transom design, which seamlessly links to mullion drainage channels, ensuring effective water drainage. In contrast, other systems on the market often struggle with water ingress at the transom/mullion interface, relying heavily on installation techniques to create a watertight seal. The aesthetic appeal of 4Edge Pro is matched by its robustness.

Heritage: Preserving Timeless Elegance

Our ‘Heritage’ patent glazing bar range is truly unique amongst roof glazing systems, offering a timeless charm that perfectly complements historic and listed buildings. With over a century of unchanged manufacturing, these lead-covered steel patent glazing bars replicate the authentic look of the Victorian era, making them ideal for refurbishing significant and historic structures. Even in modern buildings where a unique character is desired, our Heritage range remains a popular choice.

Skyline Box: Affordable and Aesthetic Roof Glazing

Our Skyline Box range of extruded aluminium glazing bars offers a cost-effective solution for roofing systems, maintaining a sleek appearance similar to curtain walling systems. The strength of these glazing bars is derived from an internal box section, ensuring durability and reliability in various architectural applications.

Skyline: Economical Roof Glazing with Slim Sightlines

Designed for economic roof glazing solutions, our Skyline range features slim sightlines that blend seamlessly with modern architectural designs. The internal stalk within the glazing bar provides structural strength, allowing for a lightweight yet sturdy roofing solution.

Rafterline: Aesthetically Pleasing Glazing System

Based on the principles of the popular Skyline range, our Rafterline glazing bar system eliminates the need for an internal stalk. This system showcases timber rafters, creating a visually appealing effect inside buildings while offering excellent weather resistance and minimal maintenance requirements.

Traditional: Versatile Glazing Bars for Various Applications

Our Traditional patent glazing bars are designed to accommodate single glazing of any thickness, as well as solid and multiwall polycarbonate sheets. With an inverted ‘T’ design, these bars are strengthened by an external stalk and can be weathered using extruded aluminium screw-on and snap-on cappings or wings.

Skylights: Versatile Roofing Solutions for Varied Designs

Our self-supporting skylights incorporate our Skyline Box, Skyline, and Heritage type patent glazing bars, offering versatility in design and functionality. Available in double, single, and triple glazed formats, our skylights can be customised to achieve multiple roof pitches and configurations, including hipped, gable, lantern, and polygonal designs.

Thermally Broken Opening Vents: Low Profile and Thermally Efficient

Our low-profile thermally broken aluminium framed opening vents are suitable for both sloping and vertical applications, providing robustness and weatherability. With welded corners and drainage features, our vents ensure durability and prevent water ingress, setting a new standard in the industry for quality and reliability. They have been designed to be operated by a wide variety of manual, remote controlled and electrical gearing and can be used for day to day ventilation and in conjunction with a BMS (Building Management System).

Single Glazed Opening Vents: Low Profile

Our low-profile single glazing aluminium framed opening vents are suitable for both sloping and vertical applications, providing robustness and weatherability.
