Project Overview
Wells House, a historic Grade II listed former hydropathic establishment in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, underwent a significant refurbishment to convert into private apartments back in 2002. Standard Patent Glazing Co Ltd was entrusted with designing, manufacturing, and installing 230m² of replacement roof patent glazing for the feature atrium using our Traditional glazing system, in strict compliance with the building’s listed constraints.
Design and Specifications
To address the building’s heritage requirements and enhance energy efficiency, we provided solar control double glazed units. These units were essential for minimising heat build-up within the building while preserving its architectural integrity.
Commitment to Safety
In adherence to stringent safety standards, we integrated automatic opening ventilators (AOVs) into the glazing system. These AOVs comply with BS EN12101 harmonised European standards for smoke and heat control, seamlessly incorporated into the building management system (BMS). This proactive measure ensures efficient smoke dispersion in the event of a fire, prioritising the safety and well-being of building occupants.
